Comments / Changes on v7 |
Installation |
- It is automatically installed when installing AhsayCBS, the replication module (Replication Receiver) is installed as part of AhsayCBS.
Apache Tomcat Version |
- Newly introduced in version 7.15. AhsayCBS version 7 is bundled with Apache Tomcat 7.0.81
Java Version |
- AhsayCBS version 7 is bundled with Java 1.7.0_76
Replication Across Different Operating Systems |
- Supported cross platform replication setups:
- AhsayCBS backup server (Windows) and AhsayCBS receiver (Linux)
- AhsayCBS backup server (Windows) and AhsayCBS receiver (Windows)
- AhsayCBS backup server (Linux) and AhsayCBS receiver (Linux)
- Un-supported cross platform replication setup (due to limitations on Windows operating systems handling of Linux file/folder naming conventions):
- AhsayCBS backup server (Linux) and AhsayCBS receiver (Windows)
Replication Modes |
- Feature enhanced in version 7. The replication process runs in four replication modes (PENDING, RESYNC, REPLAY, and SLEEP). Utilizes snaphots of each backup set while in RESYNC mode to handle replication of data.
Multi Threads Replication |
- Newly introduced in version 7.7. Support of multiple threads replication (one backup set per thread) based on the number of CPU cores of the AhsayCBS (backup) server (one thread per backup set). Refer to the AhsayCBS Administrator's Guide for details.
Dedicated Replication Port Required |
- Feature enhanced in version 7. AhsayCBS v7 backup server to AhsayCBS v7 receiver replication no longer requires a dedicated port for replication, as replication will utilise the existing http or https ports defined on the AhsayCBS v7 backup server instead. For backwards compatibility, AhsayOBS v6 to AhsayCBS v7 replication is still supported using a dedicated port. Refer to the AhsayCBS Administrator's Guide for details.
- Newly introduced in version 7.11 Support replication of v6 backup sets requires a dedicated replication port
Monitoring Replication Status |
- Feature enhanced in version 7. The replication status of each backup set can be monitored in real time in the AhsayCBS console at Monitoring > Live Activities > Replication. Refer to the AhsayCBS Administrator's Guide for details.
Replication Destination |
- Feature enhanced in version 7. Supports replication to cloud storage accounts such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, Microsoft OneDrive/OneDrive for Business, Google Drive, DropBox, Amazon Cloud Drive, OpenStack, Rackspace, Local/Network share/USB Drive, or FTP/SFTP server. Refer to the AhsayCBS Administrator's Guide for details.
Support Replication of v6 backup sets |
- Newly introduced in version 7.11. Support replication of v6 backup sets to a v7 replication receiver. The v6 backup set replication feature is designed as a temporary solution to provide extra protection during data migration (conversion from v6 data format to v7 data block format) on a v7 backup server after an upgrade from v6 to v7, it is not intended to be used as a permanent replication solution. Please refer to our AhsayCBS Administrator's Guide for details.
- Summary of the v6 backup set replication features:
- Both the backup server and replication server must be installed with v7.11.0.0 or above to support this feature.
- v6 backup set replication must be enabled on both the backup server and replication server
- Replication license modules are required for replication of v6 backup sets.
- v7 replication on must be enabled to another AhsayCBS server in order to use the feature. As replication to predefined destination does not support replication of v6 backup sets.
- Replication of v6 backup sets is supported using a single thread.
- Requires a separate dedicated replication port (default port 9444).
- Fully supports all v6 replication modes UNSYNC, SYNC, and LOGGING.
- Only v6 backup set data found in the %USER_HOME%\%USERNAME%\files folder will be replicated.
- Details of the v6 replication status can be viewed under [Monitoring]>[Replication Logs]>[Replication Sending].
