Installation
  • AhsayOBS is a part of the AhsayCBS (Ahsay Cloud Backup Suite) version 7.
  • The backup server, replication and redirection modules are all installed automatically when installing AhsayCBS.
  • Ahsay Cloud Backup Suite NFS service (service for Run Direct) is installed since AhsayCBS version 7.9.

    Important Note:
    Ensure that port 111 (port mapper), 1058 (mount port required for Run Direct restore), and 2049 (port for NFS service) are opened.

     Note for AhsayCBS on Windows:
    • For installation / upgrade using the cbs-win.exe file, the AhsayCBS NFS service is automatically installed during the installation / upgrade process.
    • For manual installation / upgrade using the cbs-win.zip file, the AhsayCBS NFS service is automatically installed when a Run Direct VM restoration is started on the AhsayCBS console.
     Note for AhsayCBS on Linux:
    • For installation / upgrade using the cbs-nix.tar.gz file, the AhsayCBS NFS service is automatically installed during the installation / upgrade process.
  • Newly introduced in version 7.11. As part of our continuing efforts to simplify and streamline the deployment of AhsayCBS on Microsoft Windows platform, Ahsay have introduced enhancements to the cbs-win.exe installer (starting from version 7.11.0.0), to improve the user experience.

    To ensure all customers benefit from this improvement, the cbs-win.zip file has been removed from the Latest Software Download Page. For customer who still requires the cbs-win.zip file, for example, to install / upgrade multiple AhsayCBS instances on a single backup server, please contact Technical Support for further assistance.
Apache Tomcat Version
  • Newly introduced in version 7.15. AhsayCBS version 7 is bundled with Apache Tomcat 7.0.81
Java Version
  • AhsayCBS version 7 is bundled with Java 1.7.0_76
Backup Data Structure
  • Changes are made to the data format and index structure for backup data in version 7 to improve the backup/restore and replication performance.
  • Backup source files that are 16 MB or smaller are now 'combined' into a single 16 MB 'block' file before they are transferred to the backup destination, which reduce the upload overhead. This also reduces the number of files in the backup destination.
  • Backup source files that are larger than 16 MB are now split up into multiple 32 MB 'block' files when transferred to the backup destination.
  • Newly introduced in version 7.7. AhsayCBS Administrator can migrate backed up data hosted on AhsayCBS from v6 format to v7 block format on the AhsayCBS console at Backup / Restore > Basic > Backup Data Migration
    • Data migration is undertaken on a v6 backup set after AhsayOBM/AhsayACB is upgraded to v7.7.0.0 or above.
    • The initial backup job after AhsayOBM/AhsayACB is upgraded to v7 will perform a backup set index migration.
    • When the next backup job is run, the data migration request will be placed in a queue. As AhsayCBS is limited to data migration of one backup sets at anyone time to minimize potential performance impact.
    • When the data migration of a backup set is in progress, all backup/restore jobs, data integrity checks, space freeing up functions are temporarily disabled until migration is completed.
  • For AhsayOBM installation on NAS (a new feature of version 7):
    • Backup source files that are 8 MB or smaller are now 'combined' into a single 8 MB 'block' file when they are transferred to the backup destination.
    • Backup source files that are larger than 8 MB are now split up into multiple 8 MB 'block' files when transferred to the backup destination.
  • For Ahsay Mobile backup set (a new feature of version 7.9):
    • Backup data structure of Ahsay Mobile backup set is in native format to the corresponding Android / iOS platform.

  • Newly introduced in version 7.15. Index files for Office 365 Exchange Online and MS Exchange 2016 mail level backup sets enhanced, one index file for each mailbox.
Self Service Encryption Key Recovery
  • Newly introduced in version 7.9.2.0. Self service for encryption key recovery, partners can now initate a recovery of client encryption key directly from AhsayCBS, the encyrption key file will be automatically uploaded from AhsayCBS to Ahsay shop. The decrypted key will be emailed directly to the contact email on the backup user account around 15 minutes after confirmation of payment of the service fee. The Self service for encryption key recovery requires:
    • A valid maintenance contract.
    • A valid Ahsay Shop login account.
    • The "Upload encryption key after running backup for recovery" setting must be enabled on the backup user account on AhsayCBS.
    • The "Encyption Recovery" option must be enabled on AhsayOBM/AhsayACB backup client./li>
    • AhsayOBM/AhsayACB to have succesfully uploaded the encryption key details to the AhsayCBS after a backup job. The encrypted encryption key file EncryptionKeys-YYYY-MM-DD.json.rgz is located in %CBS_USERHOME%\%username%\%backupset_id%\settings folder.

Login Name & Password
  • Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Basic > Administrative Access
Host Name
  • Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Basic > General > Host Name
Important Note:
The hostname / IP address configured must be unique (e.g. it cannot be the same hostname / IP address configured for another sub admin account).
System Home
  • Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Basic > General > System Home
Policy Home
  • Same as version 6, but the location of the Policy Home is not configurable in version 7.
User Home
  • Feature enhanced in version 7. Further to setting a typical User Home volume for storage of backup data, a new Predefined Destination option is introduced in version 7.
  • A Predefined Destination provide administrators with option to pre-create a backup destination for backup users. A Predefined Destination can be set to a supported cloud storage, a FTP or SFTP server, a network volume, or a local / removable volume on the backup server that is setup by the backup server administrator.
  • User Home settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at Backup / Restore > Basic > User Home
  • Predefined Destination settings can be configured at System Settings > Basic > Predefined Destination
Auto Lock User
  • Feature enhanced in version 7. The following option is removed:
    • Lock backup user automatically after 3 invalid login attempts
  • The above setting will be removed after upgrading to version 7. Administrator must re-configure the server with the following options that are newly introduced in version 7:
    • Number of times within an adjustable time period (administrator can adjust the number of times within a configurable time when the IP / user is blocked from login)
    • Block login attempt from IP address as well as user for an adjustable amount of time (mins / hours).
    • Block login attempt from IP address as well as user forever.
  • Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at Backup / Restore > Users, Groups & Policies > Policy Group > Default Settings > User Settings > Invalid Login Attempt Limit
Email System Settings
  • Feature enhanced in version 7. The configuration of the SMTP server settings remain the same when upgrading from version 6 to 7. Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Basic > Email
  • Newly introduced in version 7. Administrator can configure the server to sign all outgoing email digitally (S/MIME).
  • Also, email can be encrypted with digital certificate to individual admin contact, and can BCC email to individual admin contact.
Proxy Setting
  • Settings can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Advanced > Proxy
Windows Active Directory (AD) Integration

  • Settings such as the IP, Port, Protocol, Max Connection, Connection Timeout and Max Keep Alive Request can also be configured in the same page.
SSL Certificate
  • Newly introduced in version 7. SSL Certificate for the AhsayCBS console can be installed (e.g. request of CSR, import of SSL cert and private key) via the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Basic > General > SSL Certificate
Auto Save
  • Newly introduced in version 7 as replacement for Configuration Archival. Auto Save can be configured in the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Advanced > Auto Save
  • The Auto Save backup job is fixed at 6:00 AM daily.
SNMP Monitoring
  • Newly introduced in version 7. SNMP trapping can be enabled via the AhsayCBS console at System Settings > Advanced > Logging > Enable SNMP Service
  • The MIB file can be obtained in the same page.
Runtime Options
  • Newly introduced in version 7. Runtime options for the server such as the following can be configured via the AhsayCBS console.
  • Java Options that include the following:

License Requirement
