If you are helping end customers backup their Office 365 data, please note that Microsoft is planning to: 1). begin disabling Basic Authentication in existing tenants with no recorded usage as early as October 2020; and 2). disable Basic Authentication for the EAS, EWS, POP, IMAP, and RPS protocols in the second half of 2021.
The good news is that our next release, v8.3.6 to be released in early October, will support Office 365's Modern Authentication. Therefore, your users won't be affected by the removal of Basic Authentication. |

[DATA INTEGRITY ALERT] Pre-v8.3 Ahsay didn't have data validation mechanism to verify the data integrity at the backup destination side after performing backup. In case certain data blocks were loss from the destination due to whatever reason, there was no repair mechanism to fix the problem, thus would cause data unrestorable when needed. To solve this problem, we have implemented Post-Backup Data Validation and Periodic Data Integrity Check in v8.3 to ensure all backup data are in restorable state. The Ahsay default self-signed SSL Certificate or Dummy SSL Certificate on AhsayCBS will expire on March 21, 2020. If the Ahsay default self-signed SSL certificate is not renewed before the expiry date: 1). No AhsayOBM/AhsayACB clients will be able to login to AhsayCBS server using https protocol; 2). Due to limitations and functional issues with (Messaging Application Programming Interface) MAPI backup mode, which is a Microsoft technology used by Ahsay to enable MS Exchange Server 2013 mail level backup and restores, starting from Microsoft Exchange 2013 Cumulative Update 23 or above MAPI backup mode may stop working. To avoid issues with Microsoft Exchange 2013 mail level backup and restores, it is strongly recommend to transition from MAPI backup mode to (Exchange Web Services) EWS backup mode as soon as possible.
